Has anyone had ovarian cysts? How were they treated?

I am having an ultrasound this week to check for them and wondered about how they are eliminated. Thanks.
Answer:
Hi, I had an ovarian cyst which was discovered when I was 15. I had to have it removed along with one tube. I then went on to have a healthy little boy, so it is not all doom and gloom. I think that the decision to operate depends on pain it is causing and size but I do not think there is any other way of removing them other than a operation. Good luck, hope it all works out ok for you
i have, on my first pregnancy scan i had one on my ovary but by the next 20 week scan it had gone
diet
fitness
pills
surgery
hormones
there are lots of things that could be done not one thing might be sufficient wait for the doctor to diagnose you before you panic
The ultrasound is worse than the cysts. You have to drink 32 ounces of clear fluid and then when your back teeth are floating, they put some gel on your tummy and mash around. Mine fortunately dissolved on their own. If they are large or suspicious they surgically remove them. Good luck!
hello! i have just posted about cysts. i got diagnosed with a cyst on my ovaries about a month ago! i am only 19 years old and been having trouble with my tummy for years now and only now have they relised it was a cyst! it has grown 11cm long! fortunatly it burst, caused alot of pain, what they were goig todo to me ( and might still) is put 2 holes in my stomach and suck it out,
I had an ovarian cyst and major fibroids in my uterus which left me in constant pain and heavy periods. I had a hysterectomy 7 years ago and it was the best thing I could have done. I figured I was done having babies and didn't need those "parts" anymore. I had my appendix out at the same time but they left me one ovary so I don't have to take hormones.
it depends on how big they area and whether or not they are twisted (not trying to freak you out) my friend has had many ovarian cysts which she needed scans for and at each scan the gynae' would measure them and see where they were exactly, and then just send her home....she had one that was twisted once, and they asked her to go back after a week to check on it, their worry was that it could burst, but it un-twisted by itself. if there is anything more wrong with it then they will remove it surgically, but dont worry, and i hope this hasnt freaked you out....good luck
most will burst on their own. Unless one is really large, you'll never know.
Should one grow too large and not burst, it will be removed through keyhole surgery.
They are dealth with by surgery. It is minor surgery and you will feel better when you are done.
