Heavy Periods?

i usually get warning that my period is on its way this month it just suddenly appeared and it is very heavy and painful any ideas why the change all of a sudden? I have polysystic ovary syndrome.
Answer:
I have pcos aswell and I used to suffer with this a lot when I was a lot heavier. I also got terrible mood swings
This is because of the hormonal imbalance that is associated with pcos and the cysts can also cause pain as it makes the symptoms worse.
If you are overweight it it might make this happen more often.
I have since lost weight over the last year and my periods are now less painfull and a lot lighter. The mood swings have got better aswell.
You might find the next period is different as this used to happen aswell but mostly I was really suffering each time that they did arive and I couldn't do my normal daily things.
I'm now more able to get on with things now that they are lighter and less painfull.
If you are worried go and have a word with your gp and he could give you something to ease the symptoms
it could be a number of things... one you could have had a cycst rupture or you could have been pregnant and not known about it and had a misscariage .... none the less you need to go see your doctor right away if this has never happened before.
Hi Julia,
Don't worry luv, u might be surprised to find what stress can do alone. Also keep an eye on fluid intake especially around this time and try taking supplements like fish oils as they help with state of mind during this time we all feel quite down and depressed during or b4 periods and I have found this really helps me.Go to your GP.xx
